While conventional plasterboard requires different product variants for various applications such as: non-load-bearing partition walls (with metal or wood framing), load-bearing partition walls (with metal or wood framing), apartment partitions (load-bearing or non-load-bearing), fire-resistant walls (load-bearing or non-load-bearing), exterior walls (load-bearing with wood framing), wall cladding, and ceilings, fiberboardsare suitable for all types of construction work, from basements to attics. They can be used universally as construction boards, fire-resistant boards, sound-insulating boards, and waterproofing boards. The homogeneous structure of Fermacell® gypsum fiberboards ensures particularly high stability and resistance to mechanical stress. Fermacell® gypsum fiberboards can be used as load-bearing substrates, bracing panels, and cladding elements (service classes 1 and 2 according to DIN EN 1995-1), making them a good alternative to wood-based panels. They also have a high load-bearing capacity (up to 50 kg per attachment point). The framework supporting the Fermacell boards can be made of wood or metal profiles. In all cases, the boards must rest on a minimum 15 mm width of the frame studs. The boards are joined without tape or scrim, saving time and simplifying installation. This joining is achieved by bonding the boards edge-to-edge using Fermacell adhesive. This process allows the assembly systems to achieve extreme rigidity. Finishing and decorative products (paints, wallpapers, plasters, tiles, etc.) are applied directly, without a primer, as the board is already factory-treated.
